Children & Young Families
It’s that time of year again! Make sure you’ve filled out our 2024-2025 curriculum survey, and registered your kiddos for Sunday school!
Children’s Sermons
St. Peter's welcomes all children and families into a vibrant and accepting community of faith.
People of all ages, abilities and backgrounds are invited to participate fully in St. Peter’s many opportunities for worship, education, service, and fellowship. To enroll in children’s programming at St. Peter’s, and to receive regular communication about children’s and youth activities, please register here.
Children in Worship Services
Children are at the heart of what St. Peter’s is all about! Kids of all ages are welcome in all services, and they are invited to participate fully. The family service is particularly family- oriented and includes a children’s sermon. We expect and welcome squirming and doodling on our special "prayground" rug located in the left transept of the church (near the piano). We also provide baskets at entrances with clip boards, paper, and crayons.
Care & Learning
-
Nursery (ages 0-5)
For your convenience, we have a beautiful nursery and play yard located next to the church library. The nursery is staffed by two professional caregivers and is available between the hours of 9am-12pm on Sunday mornings (September-May).
-
Sunday School - Godly Play (ages 3-12)
St. Peter's offers a special Sunday School program based in the Godly Play method. We believe that children are born with innate spirituality. We are called to be supports to their journey, offering religious language as scaffolding. We do not "teach" or give "answers". We tell the central stories of our faith and invite the children to work with the stories, exploring what they might mean now, for them. We invite God to "come and play". Children raised in Godly Play know how to come close to God, are steeped in the Bible, and have a strong awareness of church traditions. This Montessori-based curriculum is philosophically and theologically well grounded in the Episcopal tradition. Click here for more on Godly Play.
We’re here for you.
Holy Baptism
An infant's baptism is a sacred and joyous occasion. At St. Peter's, we offer Holy Baptism as part of Sunday morning worship. If you are interested in having your child baptized, please contact our office.
Pastoral Care
The clergy and church staff are here to provide emotional and spiritual support for children, parents, and families. Please let us know how we can be praying for you and supporting the needs of your family.
