What is Pentecost?
The term “Pentecost” can refer to the Day of Pentecost, which takes place on the 7th Sunday after Easter, but it can also refer to the Season of Pentecost, which lasts through the summer and into the autumn.
You'll often see red colors on Pentecost Sunday to symbolize the flames of the Holy Spirit descending on God’s people. During the Season of Pentecost, however, you’ll notice green as the primary color in the church, symbolizing spiritual growth in ourselves and our church family.
The readings and teachings throughout Pentecost encourage us to explore what it means to love our neighbors, build community, and live a life that reflects God’s love and compassion. It’s an exciting season of learning to walk in faith, inviting us to embody the Spirit’s gifts in our own unique ways.
About Our Worship Services
We're indoors for our worship services. There are no vaccination checks for indoor worship.
We will continue to administer wine from the chalice (one side of the rail sipping, the other for those who wish the wafer dipped into the wine for them). As always, receiving only the bread is a completely valid, legitimate, and complete form of Communion, if that is your preference.
Children are welcome and encouraged to attend all of our Worship Services, though our 9:30am Sunday service is designed to be especially welcoming to children and their families. All worship services at St. Peter's with the exception of Evensong are celebrations of the sacrament of Holy Communion.
Directions & Parking
Directions
From the 5 Freeway:
Exit Del Mar Heights Road
Turn West onto Del Mar Heights Road
Turn Right onto Camino Del Mar
Turn Right onto Fourteenth Street
The church will be on your left.
Parking
At St. Peter’s
When we are open for worship on Sunday mornings, park in the St. Peter's parking lot. Enter off Parish Lane. Please pick up a parking sticker from the church office. This helps us identify our worshipping community on busy Sunday mornings when the Village of Del Mar is bustling. We realize many of you bought new cars during the pandemic, and may not have a St. Peter's parking sticker anymore. Help us help you by using the St. Peter's parking sticker.
In the Surrounding Area
On Sundays only, you may park in the Plaza Garage, across Fifteenth Street. Pick up a bar code from the greeters' stand on the patio to receive four free hours of parking. You may also park in the Del Mar Medical Building, Sarah Nabai, DDS, or Jim Jelly Real Estate.
