St Peter's has the honor of opening the Interfaith Shelter on Sunday, January 7. This is the 38th year of cross-faith efforts to house and serve the transitionally homeless in our community. Volunteers are needed in several capacities:
Help with set-up (Jan 7) and take down (Jan 21) cubicles. This is fun, physical work.
Serve as hosts to the rotational shelter guests. Hosts are quiet resources for the guests and act as the face of St. Peter’s during weekend days and all overnights. You work in pairs and your job may be as simple as reading or listening.
Do laundry. Laundry helpers to provide behind the sciences labor to keep linens clean through the two weeks and on Jan 21 for final clean-up.
Prepare meals. Cook team members and leaders prepare, serve and clean-up a delicious meal in our kitchen. You’ll be in fellowship with our guests, hosts and clergy.
Please contact the church office if you’re willing to be a host. Sign-ups for other capacities will be available on the patio after 50% of the host slots are filled.
