About Gardiner Harris
Gardiner Harris is a distinguished journalist with an extensive career covering public health, pharmaceuticals, and international affairs. He has served as a public health and pharmaceutical reporter for The New York Times, where his investigative work led to significant industry reforms.
Harris also reported on the White House, South Asia, and international diplomacy for the Times. Prior to that, he covered the pharmaceutical industry for The Wall Street Journal, where his investigations resulted in what was then the largest fine in the history of the Securities and Exchange Commission. His reporting has earned him prestigious accolades, including the George Polk Award for environmental reporting and the Worth Bingham Prize for investigative journalism. Harris is also the author of the novel Hazard, which draws on his experiences investigating coal mining conditions.
About No More Tears: The Dark Secrets of Johnson & Johnson
In No More Tears, Harris delivers a compelling exposé of Johnson & Johnson, one of America's oldest and most trusted pharmaceutical companies. The book uncovers decades of unethical practices and corporate deceit that have had far-reaching consequences on public health. Harris investigates multiple controversies, including the concealment of asbestos in baby powder linked to cancer,
the dangers associated with Tylenol, unlawful promotion of antipsychotic drugs, and deceptive marketing that exacerbated the opioid crisis through products like Duragesic (fentanyl). This meticulously researched work challenges the company's wholesome image and sheds light on the darker aspects of its operations.
